I was born and raised in Kolkata and ghosts of myself still wander the streets of that city though they’re only visible to me, mostly.  I’ve also lived in England, the U.S.A. and, most recently, Germany. Home is Toronto now. I have a lake for a neighbor, which is a first. When you can’t tell where the water ends and the sky begins, time takes on a whole new dimension. And from where I am, circling with the starlings, it sounds like the Gardiner Expressway: white noise.

I studied English and German at Smith College and spent my junior year in Hamburg the year the Wall came down.

Oh, and I can still recite some of A.A. Milne’s poems by heart.
